  • ULM nursing receives $10,000 donation
    The Louisiana Cancer Foundation (LCF) presented a check for $10,000 to Dr. Benny Blaylock, dean of University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Health and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Dr. Wendy Bailes, associate director of the Kitty DeGree School of Nursing.

    Dr. David Peterson, a 1997 exercise science graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe, earned the prestigious United States Sports Academy (USSA) 2015 Alumnus of the Year Award for his outstanding performance as a student and a professional.
  • KEDM at ULM to host Policy and a Pint Tuesday
    At 5 p.m., on Tuesday, July 28, KEDM Public Radio will host "Policy and a Pint" at Fat Pelican Restaurant in Monroe. Panel members will discuss efforts towards historic preservation of local buildings and sites. The event is free and open to the public.

    A group of recent graduates and a current student in the School of Education at the University of Louisiana at Monroe recently published book reviews various academic journals. Dr. Krishna Bista, assistant professor of education, mentored the students during their pursuit of masters and doctoral degrees in education.

    The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will host its third annual Small Business Expo from noon to 3 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Monroe Convention Center.

    Dr. Sunitha V. Bachawal, a 2010 Ph.D. graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe's Pharmacy Ph.D. program, received a prestigious honor when her photo was chosen as the cover image for the June issue of the journal, "Cancer Research: Driving Innovation to Prevent and Cure Cancer."

  • ULM to host free junior high band camp
    The University of Louisiana at Monroe School of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) will serve as host to the Band House Junior High School Band Camp from July 13-15. The Band House is a full-service music store located in West Monroe, with additional stores in Bossier City and Texarkana, Ark. The camp is free to junior high school band students.
